((whoaaa. The way the blue stands out against the black...so trippy it's like 3D!)) Ayumi blinked at Fuery. "Oh. Yeah, I'm kinda new," she said, feeling awkward. She hated talking to other people in the military, they made her feel so young in comparison. She was 17 now, legally an adult, but she still felt like a child. "So, uh..."

((Haha niiiiice. Sorry it took me so long to respond, drama =/))
"Well I'm gonna go walk around, I'll see you later, okay?" He smiled.
"Sure." Kaylin gave him a small smile back, waving goodbye as he walked away.

((oh, sorry :/ Everything alright now?))
Ayumi watched him go. "Awkward." She looked back at him. "Okay." She leaned back and crossed her arms. "Now explain alchemy to me; I want to know how well you know it."

((Nope... Nothing much I can do about it right now though.)) Kaylin gulped, "Explain it? Uhm... Alchemy is the process of destructing and reconstructing. Working to make the world a better place. There's lot of science involved, and transmutation circles. Uh... oh, and it's like a balance of inner chakara right???"

((*big hug*))
Ayumi nodded. "A little bit, yeah. But it's not enough to know just about the energies and science of alchemy. The circle is the most important thing; it's the foundation of all alchemy. Practically the world, even."
She sat back, staring out the window. The ferry had started without her realizing and there was nothing out there but dark waves. "You see, the circle is the thing that focuses and dictates the flow of power, tapping into the energies that already exist in the earth and in matter. It represents the flow of the world's energies and takes all that row power," she made a gesture, like she was taking a ball and crushing it, "and allows you to manipulate it. Makes sense? This should all be review for you."

((*big hugs back* Thanks )) Kaylin smiled, nodding, "Yeah. Makes sense."

That made Ayumi feel awkward. "And, uh..." She rubbed at her neck. "Runes. Yeah. They're the things that allow the energy to be used the way we want it too. Why don't you try transmuting something for me?"

Kaylin's eyes went wide, "t-transmuting? but I don't know how to draw any of the circles or anything... uhm... lemme see..."
She reached into her backpack and pulled out one of her school books, flipping through trying to find a simple transmutation circle to draw.

She smiled, watching her flip through her textbook. Ayumi reached over, taking a piece of chalk, and started by drawing a plain circle on the floor. Then as she started filling in the runes, she said, "We use triangles a lot, y'see, because depending on how you position them, they can represent different elements. Now, if you use a hexagon," she carefully sketched one out, "it gives us all the elements at once. That's why it's used a lot."
Finishing up, she gave the transmutation circle a little pat. It sparked a little bit, and a small wooden cat began to form.
"Which brings us to The Law of Natural Providence; whatever you transmute has to be made up of mostly the same chemical composition of what you started with. So, I started with wooden floorboards, and now I've got a wooden cat. Okay?"

"Oh!! That makes plenty of sense!" Kaylin smiled brightly, trying to copy the circle that Ayumi previously made.

((haha thanks XP Where have you been? I've missed rping with you )) "So... anything else I should know?" Kaylin practiced the circles a few times as she spoke.

((Sorry about that! It's the end of my quarter in school, I had a shitload of work to do.))
"Ah," Ayumi scratched her head. "I'll save that for my teacher, I'm not really all that good at teaching shit."
She watched her practice the circles and tilted her head. "What exactly do you want to do after you learn alchemy?"

((Ooooooh, makes sense.))
Without looking up, Kaylin smiled a little, "Well.. I don't know really. Alchemy has always appealed to me. I suppose I want to learn it so I can feel smarter, closer to the Earth... if that makes any sense."

Ayumi nodded. "That makes perfect sense." She leaned back and took her watch, dangling it in front of her own face. "I dunno what I'd do without alchemy. It's a part of me, y'know?" She tucked the watch away and grinned. "Okay, enough practice. Let's see you transmute something."
